Beck has been working on his follow up to his GRAMMY-Album-of-the-Year-Award-winning Morning Phase for some time now. Originally the album was supposed to be released in summer of 2015, but then was moved to November of 2016, which clearly has come and gone. Now Beck has shared with fans the news that his new record is coming "very soon."
In an interview with KROQ, Beck says that the album is "forthcoming… very soon" and that he's "just finished [it] up." Throughout 2016, he has released three singles, "Wow", "Dreams", and "Up All Night", which can be found on the FIFA 17 soundtrack.
Back in July, Beck spoke about how the new record was inspired by playing live with The Strokes, saying, "It's a summer night, people have their hands up. It's a communal, celebratory thing. I wanted to take that into the studio, a kind of energy or joy. The thing that wakes you up a little bit."
Beck told NME about the record, "This record has felt like a lot of freedom, as I've had time to work things out and try things. I'll go too far in one direction, then go too far in another. There were a few other ideas that have come out of making this record that are interesting and have pushed me in other directions."
No title for the forthcoming album has been revealed yet, and no released date has been announced at this time.
