Dean Ween Videos
It was a show of solidarity, and a rockin' one. Two weeks after the November 13 terrorist attacks in Paris, Mickey Melchiondo aka Dean Ween posted this cover of Eagles of Death Metal's "I Love You All The Time." Along with the song he posted a heartfelt message about his history with Josh Homme, EoDM, and his thoughts about the events that day.
"I have been very close friends with Josh Homme for over 20 years. He is easily the best friend I have in a band," he wrote. "When I heard about the Paris attacks I broke down and called [Homme] immediately and surprisingly he answered. Finding out that Dave Catching was alive and unharmed was one of the biggest reliefs of my life."
He continued: "When Josh asked me to cover this tune, I dropped what I was doing on the most important (to me anyway) gig night of my life (debuting the tunes from my forthcoming Dean Ween Group album)."
From there, Deaner encouraged others in the music community to cover the song, and to liberally share the video. His goal: a million views. Why? Well, it's "Josh's favorite version," for one, but also, the lyrics, which dip in and out of French, are a nice foil to the shroud of doom terrorists were hoping to cast over the world.
Instead, the song's since been covered by the Kings of Leon, Florence and the Machine, Imagine Dragons, Savages, Jimmy Eat World, My Morning Jacket, Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner, and countless others, with most royalties and sale revenue going to The Sweet Stuff Foundation, which will benefit survivors and the families of victims of the attacks.
