Bette Midler Accuses Lady Gaga of Copying Her

"Classic" diva Bette Midler has accused Lady Gaga of stealing her ideas, saying that the controversial wheelchair stunt in Australia that Gaga pulled last week was copied directly from Midler's own stage show.
At her show in Sydney last week, Gaga appeared on stage dressed in a mermaid's tail and sitting in a wheelchair. You may recall that late grunge god Kurt Cobain showed up to a festival gig in the UK in a wheelchair in 1992.
Midler has now spoken out to insist she invented the routine in the 1980s and has used it at many of her own concerts. Midler took to Twitter, a favorite Gaga mode of communiqué, to post the following tweets about the matter: "I'm not sure Lady Gaga knows that I've performed my mermaid in a wheelchair for millions of people – and many of them are still alive… Dear Lady Gaga if you think a mermaid in a wheelchair seems familiar – it's because it is! You can see it on youtube 24/7 – with ME performing it… Dear Lady Gaga I've been doing singing mermaid in a wheelchair since 1980 – You can keep the meat dress and the firecracker tits – mermaid's mine."
Ouch! But wait, not so fast.
Midler isn't trying to spark a war with Gaga or the monsters. She thinks the world is big enough for two divalicious, wheelchair-bound mermaids. Midler said she will talk to Gaga when they both attend the upcoming Emmy Awards later this year, writing: "Let's drink this over at the Emmys in September. Fabulous mermaids can co-exist!"
There you have it!
What do you think of Bette Midler's reaction to Gaga's wheelchair mermaid stunt?
