Beyoncé has donated over $80,000 to the Flint water crisis. "Ahead of her concert at Ford Field on Tuesday, Beyoncé [made] good on her promise to help victims of Flint's water crisis.
Beyoncé's Parkwood Entertainment presented the United Way of Genesee County with a check for $82,234 on Monday, Beyoncé's reps have announced. The money is to aid in the efforts of residents who continue to deal with the city's tainted water supply.
In addition, 14 Detroit-area high school students were chosen to receive "college gifts" to help with their educational expenses, according to a release from Beyoncé's team. Students were also given tickets to Tuesday's concert," reports The Detroit News.
The outlet adds, "The Flint initiative was revealed in April by Beyoncé's team, when it was announced Bey's Ford Field concert would include an event that will "serve as a celebration of the resourcefulness of the people of Flint and Detroit, Michigan.""
Last night's concert in Detroit was the last stop on the first leg of Beyoncé's The Formation World Tour. She now heads to Europe, where her first gig is set for June 28th in Sunderland, England. She will then make her way across the continent, playing shows in Germany, Italy, France, and many other countries before wrapping up the European leg on August 3rd in Barcelona, Spain. Beyoncé will begin the third and final leg of the Formation Tour on September 7th in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The last stop on the concert series is set to take place October 2nd in Nashville, Tennessee.
