Bill Murray recently announced his first-ever musical album, New Worlds — a mainly classical album that features America's favorite clown in a more serious role as he reads selections from the works of writers Hemingway, Whitman and Mark Twain.

Musically Murray is supported by classical musicians; cellist Jan Vogler, pianist Vanessa Perez and violinist Mira Wang — who play selections from Bach, Piazzolla and Schubert. He also sings songs from West Side Story, Gershwin, Stephen Foster and Van Morrison.

This Sunday, ahead of the album's release — which is coming in September — the legendary comedian made an appearance in Germany at the Dresden Music Festival. The concert debuted music and readings that feature on the album, along with a cover of "When Will I Ever Learn To Live In God" from Van Morrison.

Supported by the musicians from the album, Murray took center stage dressed in a black tuxedo and clearly enjoying the sense of class that the occasion and venue offered. And with gravity of a classic performance Mr. Murray completed his concert by throwing roses from his bouquet out into the audience.

This live performance is not a one-off gig for Murray and his musical companions. There are plans to take the album out on tour. His US debut will be at Festival Napa Valley on July 20th, and following the release, in October there will be a full tour. The schedule is listed below.
