Billy Gibbons Turned Down $1 Million Offer to Shave Beard

ZZ Top's beard wearer Billy Gibbons has revealed that back in 1984, he and bandmate Dusty Hill were offered $1 million to shave their signature beards. They turned down the offer from Gillette. If you adjust for inflation, that sum would be around $2.25 million in today's dollars! So it was a lot of freakin' cash.
So why did Gibbons say thanks, but no thanks? According to BWBK, he said, "The prospect of seeing oneself in the mirror clean-shaven is too close to a Vincent Price film … a prospect not to be contemplated, no matter the compensation." That's hardcore. Glad to see someone who sticks to their guns all their life.
Were Billy Gibbons + Dusty Hill silly to turn down that chunk of change to go clean-shaven? It's a beard - it'll always grow back!
