"Blurred Lines" Legal Drama Headed to Trial

Robin Thicke had the biggest hit of his career with last summer's T.I.-featuring "Blurred Lines," which lead to a level of fame that likely sank his marriage to Paula Patton. It was the song of the 2013 summer. But it has a dark cloud over it, as Thicke and the song's co-writer Pharrell Williams now have to go to trial over allegations they illegally sampled music from the late, great Marvin Gaye in the song.
Thicke and Williams asked that the copyright infringement suit be dropped, but the judge said "No."
Now, a jury will hear the facts of the case and decide if Gaye's heirs, who claim there is too much similarity and that the sample was not used with permission, are entitled to damages since the song samples Gaye's "Got to Give it Up,"
Thicke, Williams and Gaye's heirs have been embroiled in this drama for a while now. We hope it is settled soon.
