Bob Dylan Returns to the Road
Bob Dylan has lined up a number of late summer tour dates, beginning on August 10 in Pittsburgh and winding down on September 7 in Santa Barbara. The Pittsburg show is actually part of the New American Music Union festival, which also features the Raconteurs, the Black Keys, Gnarls Barkley, the Roots and more. Between that and his Virgin Festival appearance on August 11, Dylan won't actually play a headlining show until his gig at Brooklyn's Prospect Park Bandshell. In other Dylan news, the folk legend did the unthinkable in a recent interview: he commented on the rise of presidential hopeful Barack Obama. (Dylan typically avoids endorsing any political candidates.) Speaking to the London Times, he said, "We've got this guy out there now who is redefining the nature of politics from the ground up—Barack Obama. He's redefining what a politician is, so we'll have to see how things play out. Am I hopeful? Yes, I'm hopeful that things might change. Some things are going to have to."
