Bon Iver Designs Guitar Out of Whiskey Barrel
Fri, 26 Oct 2012 12:50:03
Bon Iver's Justin Vernon has designed a guitar dubbed "The 1608." It was made out of wood from Bushmills Irish Whiskey barrels. Now that's what we call recycling in a creative way, both literally and figuratively.
The guitar was built by Gordy Bischoff who resides in Eau Claire, which is Vernon's hometown.
The guitar is up for auction on eBay, with all proceeds going to the town's Confluence Project.
The Confluence Project is an effort to build a community arts center in Eau Claire. Vernon has pride in his hometown.
"The goal is to put art back on the map in Eau Claire," Vernon said. "Far too many artists from this area have had to leave because what we want to do with our lives just isn't possible here. That's what the Confluence Project is: to build a center that can be a nucleus for art here in Eau Claire."
