CartBonnie Raitt Went MIA on Music for Personal Reasons

Bonnie Raitt was giving 'em something to talk about for a while, but she took a break from her career to mourn the loss of her mother, father, brother and best friend after all four passed away within a five-year period.
Raitt hasn't released any new music since 2005, leaving fans to wonder if she was done with music. But she is mounting a comeback.
But she told PEOPLE that time away was needed. She said, "Both of my parents passed away in 2004 and 2005. Then my brother was battling brain cancer, and I wanted to take the time to be there for him."
She continued, "A dear friend was also battling cancer, and both of them lost this fight within a month of each other in 2009. I went on a tour, and it was great to get away after all that loss but then I stayed home to process the grief that had been pushed to the side."
