Country superstar Brad Paisley is coming to the small screen. The country fave has been confirmed as a member of the panel of experts on ABC's new singing competition series Rising Star.
Singer and songwriter Josh Groban will host, while Paisley, pop tart Ke$ha and hip-hop artist and actor Ludacris will fill the panel of experts. That's a nice cross-section of genres. Rumor had it that Gwen Stefani was considering this show before ultimately joining NBC's The Voice.
Rising Star, which premieres Sunday, June 22 at 9PM, completely reinvents the traditional singing competition by being the first ever interactive music competition and the audience has the final say in real time.
The show follows a group of aspiring singers as they perform live. During the performances, viewers vote in real time via an app to determine if the singer will advance in the competition. If the voting reaches a certain threshold, the performer moves on.
In addition, the performer can see how the voting is going throughout the performance, so the feedback is immediate and dramatic.
That's certainly a fresh take on a bit of a stale and over saturated genre.
What's your thoughts on this show? Exciting? Cool? Different? Ugh, another singing competition reality show?
