Many assume that Brad Pitt became such a humanitarian because he hooked up with do-gooder Angelina Jolie and had six kids with her! However, Pitt has credited U2 singer Bono with giving him humanitarian advice which helped shape him into the person he is right now!

In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, the father of six said that he sought out Bono after he made a trip to Morocco and saw firsthand how poor certain areas of Africa are.

That trip made Pitt release it was time to "get off the couch" and use his celebrity star power for good and to make a difference. Guess life on the couch with Jennifer Aniston was boring, huh?

"I sat down with him a few times and got involved in some of the stuff he was doing," Pitt admitted.

He also said that his meeting with Bono occurred around the time he met Jolie on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, saying, "That may have been one of the things that brought us together. Certainly, I've met very few people more dedicated than she is. She is always studying issues, daily. She has such compassion for the people she works with."

Pitt also said that all that he learned from Bono and Jolie caused him to spring into action when Hurricane Katrina hit. He said, "There was a responsibility to make it right, which was not being answered wholly, so I decided to make that a focal point and help families return home, and in the process we started discovering the inadequacies of low-income housing."

Pitt also has said that he and Jolie are closer to considering marriage than ever before, simply because their kids keep asking. If it's important to their kids, it's important to them!

Should Brangelina make it official? And can you take a cue from Brad Pitt about helping others?
