Brad Pitt to Star in Moneyball
Brad Pitt will star in Moneyball for Columbia Pictures. Steven Soderbergh will direct the film, which is based on the book Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game by Michael Lewis.Pitt and Soderbergh have worked together previously, on Ocean's Eleven. Pitt has been interested in the film since last year, even before Soderbergh was attached to direct the project. Marley & Me director David Frankel was initially attached to Moneyball.
The film centers on the story of Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland Athletics baseball team who took advantage of a computer program which aided him in putting together a World Series worthy team. He assembled the team with a low payroll and by using the program's suggestions.
