    It may be January but the 2013 edition of the Essence Musical Festival is hotter than July! Well, it's actually held in July. But the lineup is already scorching hot, as Brandy, Jill Scott, Keyshia Cole, LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, Charlie Wilson and Maxwell are among the performers already confirmed to appear.

    The festival takes place in New Orleans aka "Nawlins," from July 4 to July 7 at the Superdome and the nearby convention center.

    Reverend Al Sharpton and Rep. John Lewis will give lectures.
