Breach director and writer Billy Ray is attached to direct a modern film adaptation of the fantasy-horror novel Conjure Wife for United Artists.
The novel was published in 1943 and was the debut of sci-fi writer Fritz Leiber Jr. The book follows a college professor in New England who discovers that his good fortune is a direct result of his wife's magical powers. When he tries to get her to stop using her powers for such matters, a dark force enters the picture and wreaks havoc on the couple.
The book has been adapted three times already. A 1944 film was called Weird Woman, the 1962 film was called Night of the Eagle, and the 1982 film was called Witches' Brew. Ray's version will update the plot as well.
