Bandana'ed blonde Bret Michaels suffered incredible stomach pains on Sunday night, which were crippling enough to prevent him from performing in San Antonio, Texas that night. By early Monday morning, Michaels was rushed to the hospital, thinking he had a severe case of the flu. But 'twas not the dreaded influenza virus or even something more severe like H1N1. He had an emergency appendectomy.
Michaels in the hospital, is doing well and is beginning the recovery process, according to his press agent. "Bret, who has been known to perform under extreme conditions that would make most performers cancel, will unfortunately have no choice but to reschedule some of his April tour dates," his representative also said. Bret, chillax, bro! We can cut you some slack for missing a show with a surgery-requiring illness! The "extreme conditions" that his rep references stem from Michaels' diabetic condition. He self-administers insulin and has to check his blood sugar level four to six times per day.
