The late, great Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain, who shot himself in April 1994 at the age of 27, may be immortalized in his hometown by having a bridge named after him. Knowing Cobain's issues with fame, we aren't sure he would "dig" this iconization.
The Associated Press reports that residents of Kurt Cobain's Washington state hometown will have a chance to weigh in on a proposal to rename a bridge after the grunge legend.
The Aberdeen City Council will accept public comment on the proposal at its July 27th meeting.
The Young Street Bridge over the Wishkah River would now be named after the grunge rock musician. It also would call a small park next to the bridge Cobain Landing.
Some council members favor the proposal. But KXRO-AM reports others expect negative comments about memorializing Cobain because of his drug use, suicide and negative comments about his hometown.
Wait till Courtney Love gets a load of this! She will either want money or try and fight it.
We think Cobain's daughter Frances Bean should be left to decide.
What do you think of a bridge being named after Kurt Cobain? Yay or nay?
