British Musicians Petition Against Nuclear Armament

Fifty-three British bands can't be wrong—especially when they're speaking out against nuclear armament. Thom Yorke, Damon Albarn, Franz Ferdinand, and many others have signed a Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament statement calling on the British citizens to "choose peace and justice, not nuclear weapons and war."
This celebrity-heavy petition comes at a time when the Parliament is implementing a replacement program for the current Trident nuclear weapons system, updating it with "a new generation of weapons of mass destruction." A debate is scheduled to take place in March.
Kele Okereke, lead singer of Bloc Party, who has also signed the petition, said, "Climate change is clearly the greatest security threat we face. A £76 billion investment in tackling climate change would seriously change the world for the better. £76 billion on nukes will bring us much closer to global catastrophe."
