A campaign by desperate and rabid Bruce Lee fans to prevent the late kung fu action star's home from being turned into a full-time love motel has worked. The Hong Kong tycoon who owns the property will preserve Lee's one-time residence and turn it into a tourist attraction that will honor Lee. The property, a 5,700 square foot, two-story townhouse located in a Kowloon suburb, was doubling as a seedy motel, with rooms rented out on an hourly basis. Its real estate entrepreneur owner decided to donate the property to the city Lee called home as his fame grew.
Lee's study and training hall will be recreated and the home will feature martial arts weapons and other items associated with the discipline. It will also include a library and a movie theater. Through the years, Lee fans fought to maintain the estate and turn it into a museum, vehemently arguing that such an endeavor would be a huge tourist draw and economic boost for the city.
