The late, great Buddy Holly received a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last week!
At the ceremony, Phil Everly of The Everly Brothers and actor Gary Busey, who portrayed the spectacled rock 'n' roll singer in the 1978 biopic The Buddy Holly Story, both spoke on his behalf. Holly was killed in a plane crash in 1959, at the tender, tragic age of 22.
Holly's star is just north of the stars of John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Each of those artists cited the "Peggy Sue" singer's music as a major influence on their own.
Holly's widow, Maria Elena Holly, who was married to him for less than six months, said that one of his dreams was to write scores for movies and come to Hollywood and make his mark. She said, "Half of that dream did not come true. But the other half did come true with this beautiful star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame."
