Twice is nice.
Southern soul, rock and roll sextet Buffalo Clover will be releasing their sophomore album, Test Your Love on August 12 alongside Live at The Five, the first live album ever recorded at the Nashville venue and the band's stomping ground, The Five Spot.
Test Your Love was recorded in the band's hometown at "the analog wonderland," The Bomb Shelter (Alabama Shakes, Hurray for the Riff Raff), where they laid down 12 original tracks to two-inch tape.
Buffalo Clover were joined in the studio by Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, who provided background vocals on "Misery," and The Nashville Horns, a trio of brass players who also lent their skills to a few tracks on the album.
Live at the Five is comprised of primarily previously unreleased material consisting of "road songs" -- written in hotel rooms and in between shows while the band was on tour. Not only can Live at the Five boast that it is the first live album recorded at the venue, it was all recorded on an eight-channel half-inch tape machine.
As lead singer Margo Price puts it, there are "no overdubs, no effects, no tricks. A lot of people say we are better live than recorded,I don't know that it's better, but it's better in a different way. The whole night was magical. I joked the next day that it felt like my wedding."
We love everything about this band and these releases!
Who plans to check out these two new releases?
