In a new article in Rolling Stone, knob twiddler Butch Vig, who produced Nirvana's breakthrough, watershed Nevermind album, recalled his time working in the project, which went on to define alt rock and grunge as we know it. Vig spoke about working with the late Kurt Cobain, who committed suicide in April 1994.
Vig said, "Kurt was charming and witty, but he would go through mood swings. He would be totally engaged, then all of a sudden a light switch would go off and he'd go sit in the corner and completely disappear in to himself. I didn't really know how to deal with that." Um, not many people would, Butch!
Nevermind will celebrate its 20th birthday on Sept. 24.
