Rising hip-hop quartet Cali Swag District (CSD) will perform a special concert on August 31 at Arleta High School in Los Angeles. The group is set to release their debut, The Kickback through 319 Music Group/Capitol Records on October 12, but in the meantime, the crew is speaking out with Rock the Vote and encouraging their peers to register and vote.
CSD will meet with students at Alterta HS and educate them on elections and register eligible students on site. Working with the kids is something the band does all the time. Prior to bursting onto the world stage in early 2010, the group embarked on a 2009 high school tour throughout Southern Cali encouraging kids to stay in school and achieve their dreams through education. With Rock The Vote's Democracy Class, the group is staying committed to their cause and making this a nationwide campaign; while inspiring kids to vote to make a change in their future.
Have you heard the group's debut single "Teach Me How To Dougie," which sparked a nationwide dance craze and Internet phenomenon while moving up the charts each week? What do you think of their high school voting initiative?
