Just in time for Thanksgiving, Cash Money Records Co-CEOs and founders Ronald "Slim" Williams and Bryan "Birdman" Williams will bring some delightful and delectable holiday hope to the city of New Orleans with their 16th Annual Turkey Giveaway on Tuesday November 20, 2012.
The duo is gearing up to gather at A.L. Davis/Shakespeare Park (2600 LaSalle Street; New Orleans LA 70115), from 2-5 PM, where they will personally hand out over 2,000 turkeys in addition to sides. They've consistently hosted this event for the past 16 years, and it's grown every time. However, this promises to be the biggest yet.
In addition to providing hearty Thanksgiving turkeys, the brothers are excited to host free medical screenings for the very first time. This includes screenings for dental, high blood pressure, diabetes, eye exams and more, all on-site. Kids of all ages can also enjoy the latest in gaming at the video game trailer, which is also a first for the drive and bound to be a favorite.
Radio station Q93 is set to broadcast and play music live on-site. There will be spacewalks too and, after how successful it was last year, the face-painting booth also returns. Also, expect special appearances from YMCMB artists at the event.
"We were born in New Orleans, and we'll always call the city home," comments Ronald "Slim" Williams. "We're honored to be a part of this wonderful community, and they gave us a foundation for everything that we've been blessed with. The best blessing is the opportunity to give back though."
"It's really an honor to do this," concurs Bryan "Birdman" Williams. "The entire Cash Money family looks forward to this day, and it warms our hearts."
The giveaway is meant to provide some holiday cheer to those less fortunate, especially those who have still been affected in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The Williams brothers have set up a number of philanthropic organizations in the memory of their parents, as part of the Johnny and Gladys Williams Foundation including the Cash Money for Kids program; which rewards local students for their academic performance with free tickets to a New Orleans Hornets home game.
The annual Turkey Giveaway is the product of a cross-section of New Orleans celebrities, politicians and hip-hop stars, who have come together under the guidance of the Williams brothers.
