Chairlift, Neon Indian, Bear in Heaven + More Set for Tropfest

Tropfest, the world's largest short film festival, which sounds ironic in its description, confirmed that Chairlift, Neon Indian (DJ set), Bear in Heaven, Ghost Beach, and People Get Ready will be the musical performers at Tropfest New York June 22 at the Nethermead in Brooklyn's Prospect Park.
The Brooklyn-based acts will lead into the short film competition that evening, hosted by Liev Schreiber.
About each band – in one paragraph: Popular indie duo, Chairlift, made up of Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly, will headline Tropfest New York with songs from their debut and sophomore albums. Neon Indian's Alan Palomo will play a DJ set at the festival in Prospect Park. Rock band, Bear in Heaven is also joining the Tropfest stage this summer. The band is known for their blend of psychedelic electronic music, heightened by singer Jon Philpot's hypnotic vocals. Another act making their Tropfest debut is the retro pop, synth duo Josh Ocean and Eric "Doc" Mendelsohn of Ghost Beach. The twosome recently made headlines when they sparked a debate about music piracy using a 15,000-square foot Times Square digital billboard. People Get Ready, the electro-pop group, will join their Brooklyn-based counterparts at the festival as well. Combining a unique mix of dance, movement, music, and performance, People Get Ready is comprised of indie veterans Steven Reker, Luke Fasano (ex-Yeasayer), James Rickman (ex-Lizzie Trulie, ex-Slow Gherkin), and Jen Goma (A Sunny Day in Glasgow).
Whew. Time for a breather. That's a ton of good music.
Tropfest New York will be free and open to the public, however reservations are recommended. Please visit tropfestnewyork2013.eventbrite.com to reserve your space now.
