Music apps can often benefit the artist and user, but it's not often you hear about an artist specifically using an app to generate awareness, increase engagement, and most importantly, sell tickets to shows.
Indie rock band Ra Ra Riot recently used the Thrillcall mobile app to ticket an exclusive, intimate show at The Box in NYC. The event was a first of its kind, with all ticketing done solely through the Thrillcall app. Users benefited by getting exclusive access at a great price to an intimate show and Ra Ra Riot was able to connect with their fans on a new level and in a new way.
Check out what RRR's Rebecca Zeller had to say about the experience!
Q: What did you think of the show/venue?
A: I had a really great time. By Thrillcall filling The Box with our fans it made it feel like a normal show for us. It was also nice to play a more intimate show in NYC which we haven't really had the opportunity to do in ages. I had heard about The Box but never really as a proper venue, aside from the stage being slightly too small for all 6 of us it was a great place to play.
Q: What was your goal when deciding to partner with Thrillcall for this show?
A: We are always looking to team up with new companies utilizing technology in new and exciting ways especially ones that give our fans unique experiences.
Q: How did the Thrillcall app help make an impact?
A: Our fans had a chance to interact with us and our show in a different way. Not only did they get to see us in a small venue but the ticket buying experience was completely different and cheaper.
Q: Do you anticipate other artists using an app like this and why?
A: Sure, it seems like a no brainer to at least try once. If your fans enjoy using it and the incentives are strong for them I think it can go a long way. I don't think anyone on either side of the business is completely content with the pre-existing ticketing companies so having the ability to give fans another option at least occasionally feels pretty good.
Q: Where do you see opportunities for apps like Thrillcall?
A: Exclusive packages and a fully mobile ticketing system. I'm not sure what their plans are for the future but it seems like they have the ability to help get rid of scalpers and their negative impact on ticket availability, and second hand prices (i.e. LCD @ MSG.)
Q: Have you implemented mobile apps in the past to promote your shows?
A: Yes, whenever we see a good app we like to explore it and see how our fans react to it.
Q: How do you see Thrillcall fitting into the music scene with artists like yourself?
A: I think it offers a new way to provide exclusive packages, shows and tickets to our fans.
