We love enterprising, creative programs such as the ASCAP Songwriter Residency, which fosters the creative process for kids through its after-school program -- America SCORES.
The students in the Los Angeles chapter wrote a song "World Cup, It's Time" for the 2014 World Cup with Brazilian blockbuster film composer Heitor Pereira.
The ASCAP Songwriter Residency is an amazing program that allows kids --through America SCORES – a high-quality, after-school program that combines poetry and soccer-- the chance to team up with A-list composer, like Heitor Pereira, in this case, to write and record a song within three days!
Pereira said of the collaboration: "The importance of the America SCORES initiative is that through poetry, music and soccer, they combine what we know is necessary for the successful development of a child: a healthy body, a healthy mind, a deeper soul and a sense of community. This message must certainly resonate with a lot of the players participating in the World Cup who had humble childhoods and were, at some point, given a chance."

Did you dig it? It makes us beam with pride.
