Childish Gambino has announced a trio of shows set for Joshua Tree, California. Gambino plans to perform new music, promising fans a "full album experience," Pitchfork reports. The news was announced through a mysterious smartphone app called "PHAROS Earth" that Gamino tweeted a download link to on Friday. Users of the app came into contact with a countdown mechanism that expired 6 pm ET on Sunday. The three shows will take place September 2 - 4 and will feature on-site camping. Ticket pre-sale begins on June 24, by way of the "PHAROS Earth" app. Download the app here.
Gambino's last full length LP was 2013's Because the Internet. Erykah Badu has stated Childish Gambino smells like a comic book store. While it's been awhile since we last heard from Childish Gambino (real name Donald Glover, stars on NBC's Community), he's been rumored to play Spider Man in the next installation of the series, Homecoming, directed by Jon Watts. Last week Deadline reported Glover had joined the cast of Homecoming, but that Sony has chosen to not reveal his role in the upcoming film, which stars Tom Holland as protagonist webslinger.
Recently Glover's been at work on a new FX series Atlanta set to premiere this September. Earlier this month FX released first trailer set to the tune of Tame Impala's "New Person, Same Old Mistakes."
