Chris Richardson possesses all the trappings of a superstar, and his debut single for Cash Money Records/Republic Records "Joy & Pain" stands as shining proof.
The singer's voice seamlessly rises from an inviting verse into an infectious refrain that bounces along in tandem with the beat. He can pull off a playful pose or break into powerful neo-soul at the drop of a dime. That dynamic is the mark of true talent, and he could very well be the leader of the Rat Pack for the Tumblr era. Diversity like this is a rarity in the modern pop landscape, but Richardson remains one-of-a-kind.
As the chorus echoes, Tyga drops a signature, slick rhyme that's both witty and wise. The duo collaborated on last year's hit "Far Away", but "Joy & Pain" elevates everything to another level. There hasn't been a male singer with this much swag and soul in forever, and Richardson is well on his way to taking the crown.
