Christina Perri to Play Charity Shows
Mon, 21 Jan 2013 11:09:42
Christina Perri uses her talent and her fame for good. The singer has announced a number of upcoming live dates in support of two charitable organizations she holds near and dear to her heart.
The acclaimed singer/songwriter will join an array of superstars – including Steven Tyler, Roger Daltrey, and Lionel Richie – at the annual "Raise Your Voice" event benefitting the Voice Health Institute, slated for January 24 at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
The private dinner and auction will recognize VHI founder Dr. Steven Zeitels' 25 years of innovative work in voice restoration, research and care while raising funds for ongoing research to restore speaking and singing capability to individuals whose voices have been lost or damaged by disease or trauma. Perri – who, like such gifted singers as Adele, is personally indebted to Dr. Zeitels for performing successful vocal surgery – is also among the Vocal Health Institute's advisory board, headed by Honorary Chairwoman Julie Andrews.
Next, Perri will take part in a series of intimate, acoustic concerts presented by To Write Love on Her Arms, a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA's "Heavy & Light Tour" will hit 17 cities across the U.S., with each show featuring a unique line-up of artists, including Jon Foreman (performing both solo and with Fiction Family), The Almost's Aaron Gillespie, and Bryce Avary (of The Rocket Summer).
Perri is slated to co-headline the tour's three opening dates: January 28 at Anaheim's House of Blues; January 29 at San Diego's House of Blues; and January 30 at the House of Blues in West Hollywood.
Will any lucky Left Coasters be checking out Christina Perri's upcoming spate of shows?
