Clay Aiken Tells All

This week's issue of People magazine features quite a coup on its cover: Clay Aiken holding his baby son, Parker Foster Aiken, alongside the headline "Yes, I'm Gay."
"It was the first decision I made as a father," Aiken says in the story, which hits newsstands on Friday. "I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things. I wasn't raised that way, and I'm not going to raise a child to do that."
Aiken's child was conceived via in-vitro fertilization with his close friend, record producer Jaymes Foster. While he's proud of his decision to become a father and reveal his sexual orientation, Aiken says he's aware of the fallout that could happen with his fellow born-again Christian fans.
"I've never intended to lie to anybody at all," Aiken explains. "But if they leave, I don't want them to leave hating me."
"We congratulate Clay for making this decision and for setting an example for others and his family," Neil Giuliano, president of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, said in a statement. "As we're seeing, more and more gay people, including celebrities, are living openly and honestly, and this has tremendous impact in terms of creating awareness, understanding and acceptance."
