Coachella May Be Delayed in 2012

LA Weekly reports that Coachella 2012 may be delayed due to some environmental concerns voiced by the locals.
The city of Indio has postponed signing a contract with Coachella festival promoter and organizer Goldenvoice, due to the mounting pressure from the neighboring city of La Quinta, which is lobbying for an environmental review of the increasingly adored music and arts festival. That means the April 13, 2012 start date could be in jeopardy.
La Quinta wants Indio and Goldenvoice to conduct an assessment under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) to evaluate the environmental impact of traffic, noise and pollution generated by the festival. Since promoters have supersized Coachella this year - it'll be spaced out over two weekends in April instead of one- the matter is further complicated. And if a review is conducted, it could delay the planned date. Yikes!
Coachella draws nearly 75,000 people, and with it comes fun-seeking music fans and the expected headaches like traffic, noise, litter and other assorted partying antics, etc.
Do you think Coachella expanding to two weekends is too long?
