Coldplay, Adele, and The 1975 were among the big winners at the BBC Music Awards, which took place in London on December 12th.

The third annual awards were held at London's ExCel with the likes of Robbie Williams, Kaiser Chiefs, and Craig David performing live.

In total, only five awards were given out on the night, and Adele lead the pack, winning two of the biggest gongs; BBC Radio 2 Album of the Year, which was awarded for for her 2015 album 25, and for Song of the Year "Hello". Coldplay won the award for BBC Music British Artist of the Year, and The 1975 picked up the BBC Radio 1 Live Performance of the Year, for their cover of "What Makes You Beautiful" - the One Direction hit.

Adele and Coldplay were both absent from the ceremony, both artists submitted acceptance speeches. Adele granted Robbie Williams permission to accept her Album of the Year Award, while Coldplay sent their message from a recent performance in Melbourne, Australia.

Adele won two gongs at last year's ceremony and has now won more BBC Music Awards than any other artist, in the event's short history. See below for a link to purchase the BBC Music Awards Album of the Year, and to watch The 1975's winning performance.
