Coldplay is working on new music. Singer Chris Martin wrote, "Hello everyone, we're working on some new songs for next year. It's called the Kaleidoscope EP. We hope you're well, love cm." However, he did not give any more information on the project.
Kaleidoscope will be the first new material from Coldplay since A Head Full of Dreams was released last December. The band hasn't released an EP since 2014's A Sky Full of Stars, but regularly publish them before or after new LPs.
Earlier this month, Coldplay joined Jay Z and Demi Lovato to play the inaugural Global Citizens Festival in India. It was the first time the band has played in the country.
A Head Full of Dreams reached number one on the UK charts and number 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200. It was their first album LP since 2002's A Rush of Blood to the Head to not reach number one in the U.S. However, it was the band's sixth consecutive top 5 album in the U.S. and seventh straight number one in the U.K.
For a moment there was consideration that A Head Full of Dreams might be Coldplay's last album. But now that certainly doesn't seem like the case.
