A moment of extreme sadness has crossed my life. Comedian Robert Schimmel has died. The comic, who battled cancer and liver problems, passed away Friday, a week after he took the brunt of a car accident in Phoenix. His teenage daughter was driving and forced to swerve to avoid an accident in their lane and the car rolled over. Schimmel, one of the funniest comics ever with a bone-dry sense of humor and savage delivery, was in critical condition, post-accident, for a week. At the time of his death, he was 60.
I saw Schimmel perform live in March 2009 and I nearly peed my pants he was so funny. I own several of his DVDs and CDs and I am totally devastated by the news. RIP Bob. The world was a funnier place with you in it and some of that humor is extinguished now.
Have you ever checked out Robert Schimmel's material? If you haven't, do yourself the favor. He was hysterical and the comedy world has been left with a huge void.
