Nicolas Cage Videos
Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson, Christpher Mintz-Plasse, who'll be forever remembered as ultra-nerd McLovin in Superbad, and Chloe Moretz will star in Kick-Ass, a big screen adaption of Mark Millar's comic book.
The comic book is extremely violent, which lead many Hollywood studios to pass on the film initially. Matthew Vaughn, also known as the husband of supermodel Claudia Schiffer, will direct the film, having raised $30 million in financing himself through independent means.
The comic and the film follow a high school geek who tries to reinvent himself as a superhero named Kick-Ass, complete with a costume and all. Kick-Ass doesn't get very far with his superhero aspirations, given the fact that he's not athletically prepared. He has run ins with real criminals, from which the action ensues. Cage will play a former cop, while Mintz-Plasse will portray a characted named The Red Mist, a mobster's teenaged son trying to unearth Kick-Ass' alter ego identity. Moretz will play Cage's daughter, a crime-fighting pre-teen with a sailor's vocabulary. The role of Kick-Ass and his alter ego Dave Lizewski has just been awarded to Johnson.
Production is tentatively scheduled to begin in the fall in Toronto and London.
