    Corbin Bernsen Forms Production Firm

Former '80s star Corbin Bernsen, remembered for his roles in TV's L.A. Law and in the baseball film Major League, is forming an independent production company dubbed Team Cherokee Productions. The company aims to make independent films that will be targeted to specific audiences, with Bernsen writing and/or directing several of the films on the company's slate.

The first film Team Cherokee will produce is a faith-themed film called Rust, which Bernsen himself wrote. He will direct and star in the picture, which is scheduled to shoot next month in Kipling, Saskatchewan. The rural farming community of Kipling, which boasts a population of 1,100, is financing the film.

Bernsen has also worked out a deal with Electric Light Films to re-release Carpool Guy, the film that he starred in, directed, and co-wrote. The film also starred his mother, longtime soap opera actress Jeanne Cooper.
