The Associated Press reports that a judge is delaying the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, who is charged in Michael Jackson's death, to give defense attorneys time to counter new prosecution experts.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor says "the need for fundamental fairness" requires a delay. He didn't say how long the delay would last. Dr. Murray's defense attorney, Ed Chernoff, told the judge the Houston-based cardiologist had agreed to delay the case.
New dates for the trial and resumption of jury selection are TBD.
Chernoff on Friday said the delay was to counter newly disclosed experts who a prosecutor said would support the "cornerstone" of their case. Murray pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter. Authorities have accused him of giving Jackson a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol in the bedroom of the singer's rented mansion and of ignoring the needs of his patient in order to cover up his mistakes and to brag about treating him to women he was trying to impress. Shady. And not in the Slim way.
Do you think Dr. Conrad Murray is guilty as sin?
