It's been about 10 months since Courtney Barnett released Sometimes I Sit and Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit., but that doesn't mean she hasn't been working on anything new. Today, Barnett released "Three Packs a Day," a track off of the upcoming Milk! Records label compilation Good For You. The album is due out February 14th.
Milk! Records began as a way for Barnett to release her own music, but now with Courtney's shooting star and an impressive set of other artists, the label's popularity is quickly rising. Consequence of Sound reports that along with Courtney's new track, the record will include tracks from "Jen Cloher, Fraser A. Gorman, Ouch My Face, The Finks, and East Brunswick All Girls Choir."
"Three Packs a Day" features the Australian star singing a rock & roll-inspired ode to ramen noodles. It's a tough addiction for anyone to get through, not to mention that two minute cook time. She sings, "Two minutes seems like such a long time, burn my tongue, patience is a virtue." It's clearly all in good fun, but she delivers it in that straightforward tone that we just can't get enough of.
Also, don't forget Fraser A. Gorman on the harmonica, who really brings a full sense of blues to the hunger-inducing track.
Courtney Barnett's "Pedestrian at Best" was one of ARTISTdirect's "Best Tracks of 2015".
