Courtney Love Apologizes to Billy Corgan Via Facebook

Everyone's favorite alterna-rock soap opera has a new and very public chapter. Courtney Love, who is known for spouting off on various social media sites, including her infamous rant to her daughter Frances Bean Cobain, who elected to live with Kurt Cobain's mother over Love herself last year, issued an "apology" to her longtime friend and cohort, Smashing Pumpkins' singer/guitarist Billy Corgan, on March 16. In a recent SPIN cover story, Love spoke out about her ailing friendship with Corgan and he berated her in a Rolling Stone interview. What's next? A transcript of a text message war between the feuding alt-rock icons? There's blood in the water on this one and we're anxious to see how it plays out.
Apparently, Corgan worked on Love's forthcoming album, Nobody's Daughter, which is expected out in April under the Hole moniker. Corgan actually worked with Love before, penning tunes on their final album, Celebrity Skin. In the interview, Corgan said that if Love released this new batch of songs, it would be "a real big problem" since he has not given his permission to release the songs and that Corgan has "no interest in supporting her in any way, shape or form. You can't throw enough things down the abyss with a person like that." But is it any shock that Courtney Love is an energy and emotion vampire who sucks the life out of every relationship she has? We've heard this story before, countless times, with different folks in her life.
What's interesting, however, is Love's response to the matter. She didn't go on the offensive to attack Corgan. In subdued –and surprising- fashion, Love wrote an open letter to Corgan on her Facebook page, which read as follows:
"Dearest Billy: I love you, I love your strong and eternal heart, even love the f***ed up gnarly amazing magnificent bigger-than-god louder-than-love karma of the songs you write and allow me to fly with. We have again created beauty from the agony between us, all the buried and unburied anguish, all that is true, that is gold, that is meant to be is within this endless and somehow eternal cycle of Billy & Courtney. I hope you will take my sincerest apologies for all the thousand ways I sometimes offend you, because I know you are a king, a prince, and my beautiful noble boy. No one will ever force my hand, nothing will come between the truth of what we are: Eternal lovers. Eternal fighters. Eternal warriors. Let the forces and the shock and awe loose from its cages, all credit where it is due. I love and you and can never thank you enough. Your soul (and you know this). Xxx CLC."
Was this just a chess move on Love's part, to get more flies with honey with a "loveyameanit" apology? Is she just being crazy and irrational? Is she playing this up for the shock value and publicity? Is she sincere? One will never know. We'd venture a guess that Corgan thinks it's just a few sounds bellowing from the abyss.
