Cyndi Lauper Charity Gig Set for December 8 in NYC

Cyndi Lauper is hosting a charity concert to benefit homeless gay teens. It will be held on December 8 at the Beacon Theater in NYC and will feature the likes of openly gay pop star Adam Lambert, singer Roberta Flack and actress Whoopi Goldberg, with the goal of raising awareness of homelessness in the gay community.
Lauper is the mastermind behind the True Colors Fund, which aids young gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people dealing with tough times in their lives. The show will benefit her charity.
The benefit will be called "Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays" and it will also include appearances by singer Sarah McLachlan and actress/talk show host Rosie O'Donnell, the latter of which is openly lesbian.
"When I first learned that up to 40 percent of all homeless youth in this country identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender I was shocked and saddened," the "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" singer said. "For far too long, homeless youth have not received the attention, resources and funding necessary to bring an end to this epidemic."
She continued, "My hope is that through this inspiring evening of music and comedy we can raise awareness and much needed funds to help these young people through our newly launched Forty to None Project."
