"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" singer Cyndi Lauper is opening a housing facility for homeless LGBT youth in New York City this fall. The facility will be located on West 154th Street near Frederick Douglass Blvd. in Harlem. It will be called "True Colors Residence," taking its name from one of Lauper's hit ballads, and it will offer 30 studio apartments for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered youths aged 18 to 24.
The facility was conceived in conjunction with West End Intergenerational Residence and the project will be the first of its kind located in the city.
Many LGBT youth are at risk and tossed out by their families for their orientation, so this is a terrific way for Lauper to open her arms to those in need. What do you think of Cyndi Lauper's LGBT initiative?
