Daft Punk Ft. With The Weeknd, The Magnetic Fields, & Snoop Dogg Soar In Top Music Videos Of The Week - March 17
Thu, 16 Mar 2017 14:47:29
This week, music videos may have dwarfed songs and albums when it came to headlines. And that's all thanks to Long Beach, California's own Snoop Dogg. He dropped the controversial video for his remix of Badbadnotgood's "Lavender", which featured the rapper shooting a clown Donald Trump.
In the less political world, The Magnetic Fields debuted the video for "85 Why Am I Not A Teenager", which is a beautiful piece of art. The Weeknd and Daft Punk also looked to the past for their inspiration for "I Feel It Coming", though only back to the 80s.
Meanwhile, Pitbull & J. Balvin got us prepped for summer with "Hey Ma" [ft. Camila Cabello]. And that was only the beginning for a week filled with stunning eye candy.
Here are our favorites:
Snoop Dogg — "Lavender" (Remix of Badbadnotgood)
If you get the current President of the United States to Tweet about you — even if this current President Tweets a lot — you've certainly managed to make waves. And in response, POTUS responded, "Can you imagine what the outcry would be if @SnoopDogg, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!"
The Magnetic Fields — "85 Why Am I Not A Teenager"
The video for "85 Why Am I Not A Teenager" from Stephin Merritt's Magnetic Fields is full of old-timey book drawings come to life. The song tells of those challenging first days when one begins the life of a working man, and tells the story of a worker who gets swallowed by a whale. It's all great fun.
Pitbull & J. Balvin — "Hey Ma" [ft. Camila Cabello]
Is summer here already? It certainly feels like it in "Hey Ma" from the new Pitbull & J. Balvin track, which features Camila Cabello. It's taken from theFate of the Furious soundtrack, which is due out April 14th. We personally didn't need any more reasons to get excited about the new The Fast & The Furious but if you do, "Hey Ma" should certainly provide it.
The Weeknd — "I Feel It Coming" [ft. Daft Punk]
In the video for "I Feel It Coming", we find The Weeknd doing his best Michael Jackson impression, and it's darn good. From his outfit to the VHS-quality of the footage, the visuals nail the period when MJ sat atop the world, much like The Weeknd seems to right now.
Miguel & DJ Premiere — "2 Lovin U"
Looking for something filled with couples caught in romantic embraces? Look no further than Miguel & DJ Premiere's "2 Lovin U". It's spectacularly lit and an excellent companion for the track, which saw release two weeks ago.
