Danger Mouse Launches New Label, 30th Century Records, With Compilation Album

In partnership with Columbia Records, today Brian Burton (aka producer Danger Mouse) announced the forthcoming issue of 30th Century Records Compilation Volume I, the imprint's first official release. The album promises "eleven tracks of guitar-based brilliance" and will be widely available December 18th.
The release is being described as, "A psychedelic mosaic with international scope, 30th Century Records Compilation Volume I touches both future and classic sounds from the sun-drenched shores of Brazil to the murky depths of Glasgow. Dan Auerbach's blistering riffage in The Arcs, and Autolux's arty experimentalism are featured alongside Sam Cohen's rough-hewn authenticity and emotive rockers from newcomers like Nine Pound Shadow and Waterstrider...this album finds guitar music alive and well from the garage to the depths of space."
Two tracks are streaming below: Sam Cohen's "Lose Your Illusion," a collaboration with Danger Mouse, and Nine Pound Shadow's "Melody." Cohen "writes naturalist songs steeped in blissed out soul grooves and futurist guitar work," and "Berkeley brothers Nine Pound Shadow" wield a kind of "austere pop, dirty yet majestic like The Zombies." Both tracks are available for purchase today.

For Burton's nascent, guitar-pushing label, here's hoping we see James Mercer in the mix somewhere down the line: good things usually happen when he and Burton team up.
