Daniel Craig, Jamie Bell in For Tintin

Daniel Craig and Jamie Bell are going at it again. The actors have been cast in two crucial roles in Tintin. The film, based on a comic strip, is a passion project for director Steven Spielberg. The full title of the film will be The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn. It will be the first installment of a planned trilogy that will feature 3-D motion capture technology. Paramount and Sony will co-finance and co-distribute the film.

Bell will play the title character, a young reporter always on the prowl for a good, if elusive, story, which often leads him into adventurous situations. Craig well play a villainous pirate named Red Rackham. The film reunites the actors, who recently appeared together as heroic brothers in the Holocaust drama Defiance. Craig has worked with Spielberg previously, in Munich.

Tintin, whose plot has been a closely kept secret in Hollywood, is currently in the pre-production phase in Los Angeles. A 2011 release date is being eyed. Gad Elmaleh and Toby Jones are also new additions to the film's voice cast.

As we reported earlier, Peter Jackson is producing the film alongside Spielberg and is scheduled to direct the second film in the trilogy.
