Date For Oscars Animated Symposium Set

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences will present its first ever Animated Feature Symposium on Thursday, February 19 at 7:30 PM. It will be held at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. The program will be moderated by animator and animation historian Tom Sito and will include on-stage discussions with the available nominated filmmakers, as well as clips from the nominated films. Admission to the event is free through advance tickets. While the event has already sold out, a standby line will be formed by the theater's west doors the day of. Standby numbers will be assigned at 5:30 PM that day and available tickets will be released at that point. The nominees for 2008 Animated Feature film are Bolt, Kung Fu Panda, and WALL-E.
Also, a symposium featuring the foreign language film directors will be held at 10:00 AM on February 21 at the same location. Among the participants scheduled are Waltz with Bashir's Ari Folman. This event is also free. It's already sold out and requires advance tickets for entry. As with the animated symposium, a standby line will form beforehand, with standby numbers being assigned by 8:30 AM.
