Musician, music producer, author, entrepreneur, filmmaker, and philanthropist Dave Stewart is gearing up for the August 23rd release of The Blackbird Diaries (Razor & Tie/Weapons of Mass Entertainment/Surfdog), his first album of new material in over a decade ¬ a robust, venturous collection of songs that combines an all-star cast of collaborators and Stewart's masterful production with his already-brilliant songwriting. No, we're not exaggerating.

Stewart recently told Billboard that the album has "got this weird mixture, like an Englishman landing in a country, blues, and rock atmosphere, but it has kind of a quirky side to it too." Read the entire story by going here.

Featuring a co-write with Bob Dylan as well as duets with Stevie Nicks, Martina McBride, Colbie Caillat, and the Secret Sisters, The Blackbird Diaries is indeed a novel approach for Stewart: tenacious rock steeped in Americana and blues riffs with his most personal, story-driven lyrics to date. Stewart yet again proves himself to be one of the most successful and revered songwriters of all time.

We dig Dave Stewart. A whole bunch! We are looking forward to hearing the Blackbird sing in August.

Watch Stewart collaborate with Caillat on the seductive "Bulletproof Vest" by going here.

Are you stoked to "read" The Blackbird Diaries?
