A cast of former members of David Bowie's band are set to pay tribute to the icon on the one-year anniversary of his death. The show will take place at New York, New York's Terminal 5 and is titled "A Very Special David Bowie Concert With Bowie People Playing Bowie Music Bowie Style."
Mike Garson, Earl Slick, Adrian Belew, Mark Plati and Gail Ann Dorsey lead the lineup of musicians playing at the event. Tickets for the concert will benefit Arts in Education and are $65, $85 (includes early entry & poster) and $125 (early entry & gift bag). They can be purchased on Terminal 5's website.
In November, it was announced that concerts celebrating Bowie's 70th Birthday, which is on January 8th, will be taking place around the world. The first show announced was the London event, which will take place on January 8th at Brixton's O2 Academy. It will feature Gary Oldman as a host - Oldman was previously involved in another Bowie tribute earlier this year - and former Bowie collaborators Mike Garson, Sterling Campbell, Catherine Russell, Holly Palmer and Adrian Belew (Talking Heads, King Crimson).
It was also recently revealed that concerts will be taking place in Los Angeles, Sydney, and Tokyo, and will feature a core two dozen musicians traveling plus many local, regional, and national musicians. However, there have been no details released about those events at this time. Watch ARTISTdirect for updates.
