Producer Robert "Joe" Halderman, the 52-year-old dude who tried to extort money from late night host David Letterman due to the gap-toothed star's inter-office affairs, namely with Halderman's girlfriend, has started his six-month jail term. He will also be required to perform 1,000 hours of community service after he is released from jail. Halderman agreed to both sentences when he pleaded guilty to attempted grand larceny in March. I had forgotten about this story, even though Letterman admitted his indiscretions on his show right before the story broke.

Letterman did appear at the sentencing hearing on Tuesday of this week.

Do you think this punishment fits the crime?
