"Dawn of the Dead" Gets 3-D Treatment

1978 horror classic Dawn of the Dead is getting the 3-D treatment. The film, directed by horror master George A. Romero, is one of the most successful, most revered independent films ever made and is particularly a favorite among the zombie/gore crowd.
The film will be converted to stereoscopic 3-D for a theatrical run. The dimensionalization process will be completed within a year. In-Three has been dispatched to translate the film. The company uses software to create another camera image from a regular two-dimensional image. The translation process is somewhat pricey and can cost anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 per minute. There are currently 1,000 3-D domestic digital screens, so it's apparent that the cost of this project should be offset by significant demand from horror buffs.
